In light of today's new events, it just doesn't seem appropriate to be glib (I love that word).
It's strange that it happened the day after the Olympics announcement. I am trying to decide if that or the G8 summit has more bearing on today's events.

I think if the G8 was related it would be more likely to have made the attack in Edinburgh. I also noted that it was the day after the Olympic announcement, but ask myself this..if we had lost the bid, would they have cancelled the attack..probably not.
So on reflection, I think it was probably just dumb luck on the part of some terrorist scum who couldn't find their ass with both hands unless some "leader" told them where it was, that they chose a significant week to have these plans come together.
I am very un-informed as to the inner workings of politics, I read headlines so I know wha's going on...but seldom understand.
On a somewhat sad note, Mr. Bush in Washington, has needed something like this to come along to rally the lagging redneck support for this on slaught of violence he calls a war.
Ok I am done now. (That's as political as I get.)
...and I thought I was the only one who made the Olympic connection...
I make somewhat unrelated events connectes all the time...
